American Estates: Pete Prevost Smooth Acorn (2013)
Product Number: 004-009-14826
A ponderous bowl perches at a forward cant from the transition of this Acorn from Pete Prevost. Soft lines and an organic profile seem to hint at Pete's appreciation for the Danish school, the piece's lifting heel rising in soft curvature to the broadly domed aspect of the rim. A tight transition introduces the expanding shank, which reveals tendrils of grain across its angled surface. That grain demonstrates excellent orientation, displaying tight vertical grain on the bowl translating to grain parallel with the shape of the shank. A single expansion ring at the base of the stem provides just the right visual emphasis for this wonderful, organically inclined composition by a carver of obvious talent.- Chuck Stanion
