American Estates: J. Alan Sandblasted Tomato (526) (2011) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-14830
Balancing full, plump curves with more graceful, sweeping lines, this Tomato from Jeff Gracik is one beautiful piece of pipe design. The bowl itself is broad and curvaceous, with stout reinforcing chamber walls really filling out the cheeks to either flank. Similarly, he's kept the shank broad for visual balance from the smoker's perspective, though quite low-profile when viewed along the silhouette. That low-slung orientation is further emphasized in the way he's softened the heel, giving it a subtle lifting gesture, which just fits seamlessly into the swift, upward arcing lines of the shank — making for a continuous, fluid look in profile. It's a stunning piece, especially in such a smoky, fiery sandblast such as this.
