American Estates: Abe Herbaugh Sandblasted Bent Brandy (2013) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-009-14964

This bent Brandy fits in well to Abe Herbaugh's Danish-inclined aesthetic and penchant for compact, chubby, and curvaceous forms. The bowl displays some subtle cheeking near the transition and gradually tapers from its rounded, lifted heel up toward the smooth polished, neatly chamfered rim up top. It's certainly one of the more reserved pieces compared to Herbaugh's wild Freehand forms and asymmetric designs, but expertly demonstrates Abe's versatility and talent at crafting more traditionally inclined shapes. The American carver has then treated the stummel to a light-depth, Danish-style sandblast, bringing out some fascinating grain while also maintaining the piece's supple curves and beautiful form. The rich, crimson-hued contrast stain highlights the nuances of the briar's grain and makes the ring grain patterns all the more stunning. It's offered here in unsmoked condition.
