American Estates: Todd Johnson Smooth Bent Dublin (Hoplite) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-009-16621

Practically beckoning forward in profile with its graceful sense of gesture, this bent Dublin from Todd Johnson seems to distinctly call to mind the carver's penchant for blending organically artful Danish elegance with modern design cues. With a gently flaring Dublin bowl blossoming at the end of its long, sweeping shank, there's plenty of focus thrown to the canted, cup-like form, especially with its massive crown of undulating plateau. It's dressed beautifully in a contrast-stained showcase of flame, guiding the eye effortlessly to an ever-so-slightly tucked transition, followed by a well-defined gradual flare at the shank. Todd's followed it all with a gently downturned saddle stem, framed by a succinct, structured stem base, lending the pipe something of a spatial duality, as it's balancing such a softly-rounded bit of briar up front. A seemingly effortless, yet quite formidable piece from Todd here.
