American Estates: J.M. Boswell Rusticated Bent Sitter (2004) (Unsmoked)

Product Number: 004-009-16840

J.M. Boswell is a carver you can always count on to craft eye-catching briars in unique shapes, and this bent Sitter speaks to that ability. The underside is flat, giving the pipe its eponymous ability, and the bowl and shank grow out of it at an angle that push them both rearward, giving it an odd kind of angular forward momentum. The shank is thick and trim, but tapers swiftly to its end, stepping down to meet the saddle stem which curves slightly to maintain the pipe's low-profile look. The stummel features a dual finish, with the underside, rim, and strip of briar at the fore of the bowl treated with a low-depth rustication, while the rest of the stummel wears a warm mahogany stain. Unsmoked.
