American Estates: J.M. Boswell Smooth Bent Apple (2021)
Product Number: 004-009-17002
J.M. Boswell is an American carver with a propensity for robust shapes, but this bent Apple is a bit more modest in terms of size. It possesses a touch of Freehand-like shaping, however, with pronounced, fluting ridges wrapping around the bowl. The rigid lines offer an organic sensibility to the composition and a unique in-hand presence. The gradually rounded bowl is paired to a flared shank and arcing saddle stem of pale yellow and black acrylic, the later of which should provide some comfortable jaw-hanging. The stummel wears a smoky, dark chestnut smooth finish that showcases some lively birdseye across either flank of the bowl.--Davin Hylton
