American Estates: J.M. Boswell Partially Rusticated Sitter (5)
Product Number: 004-009-17012
A high-reaching, sturdy Sitter from J.M. Boswell, this piece features a muscular, forward-leaning bowl that's Pot-like in its breadth. A deep bend is then followed by a stout shank that continues the bowl's robust demeanor, with its end lent playful asymmetry. The jet-black, vulcanite stem shows off a stylish base that's spiraled, the latter a motif often also seen in the American carver's briar stummels. Dressed in a dual finish of dark rustication juxtaposed against a handsome smooth green stain, this pipe offers a comfortable fit in hand and is primed for serving as a companionable desktop pipe.-Angela Robertson
