American Estates: Adam Davidson Smooth Bent Egg (2016) Tobacco Pipe

In a seemingly effortless display of streamlined-meets-classical, Adam Davidson has taken a forward-urging bowl form imbued with no shortage of tapering curve and married it to an upward-flicking, gently flared shank and stem. Mirroring this fusion, Davidson went one step further and accentuated the bowl's visual softness by lightly chamfering the rim, an aspect complemented by the acutely-domed, plateau-kissed mortise face. A downwturned saddle stem tips the scales a little further in favor of the traditional, though there is something undeniably timeless about this handy, ergonomic design. Flame grain and birdseye abound too, accentuated by a smoky walnut contrast stain.
