American Estates: Brad Pohlmann Smooth Bent Dublin with Mammoth (7) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-17561
This bent Dublin from Brad Pohlmann blends curvaceous shaping with asymmetrical line work for a bold, sweeping appearance in profile. Hoisted high at the fore of the composition by a dramatically lifted heel, the muscular, heavy-set bowl, with its flared, softly inflated rim, gradually tapers into the low-set transition. From there, the shank curls upward and rapidly expands into the arcing saddle stem, while maintaining an implied momentum off the sweeping heel. A prominent ridgeline descends from the fore of the rim and glides across the underside of the stummel, its trajectory favoring the right side of the composition, resulting in shank that angles away from the bowl. The ridgeline also provides a sense of structure to the design, offsetting the crescent shaping that comprises the majority of the pipe's construction. A warm, traditional smooth finish dresses the briar and showcases tight licks of flame grain that streak across the flanks of the stummel. A warm, pearly mammoth accent adorns the shank end and provides a touch of complementary color to the hues of the stummel.--Davin Hylton
