American Estates: Adam Davidson Sandblasted Pot (2009) Tobacco Pipe

The Pot shape isn't a design seen with frequency in Adam Davidson's portfolio, making this 2009 example a welcome addition. Carved in the compact, muscular style of American pipe making, this piece features the form's solid, thick-walled bowl that boasts a beveled rim. Out back, a gradually tapering shank leads to one of Adam's hand-cut, vulcanite stems, the silhouette here quite striking. The stummel is wearing an earthy, rugged tanblast, adroitly showing off the briar's natural grain, including blasted birdseye along the top of the shank and inner rim, with rippling growth rings ascending from the heel.
