American Estates: Bob Hayes Partially Rusticated Acorn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-17688
A North Carolina carver who won the Triangle Area Pipe Smokers Professional Pipe Carver of the Year award for three consecutive years, Bob Hayes passed away in 2017, leaving behind a legacy that lives on through his pipes. This Acorn has many enticing elements, including a capacious chamber, a stylish, sloping, and beveled rim that both softens the form and should aid in the loading of tobacco, and a firm heel that resembles a heel spur in profile. The full-bodied bowl is paired to an upturned round shank that's then topped by a jet-black saddle stem, the pipe's light weight and arcing arrangement in back resulting in a comfortable smoking posture. It's dressed in a warm, traditional stain with a band at the shank end rusticated for further visual and textural interest, the accent lending a touch of playfulness.
