American Estates: Jared Coles Partially Sandblasted Bent Dublin Sitter with Boxwood (1746) (2017) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-17748
This pipe sits confidently despite the small base, and the pipe looks like a check mark from a distance, depending on your visual acuity. It is not a particularly large pipe, though it seems bigger than it is, perhaps because it rises so dramatically when sitting. Two smooth areas punctuate the sandblasted surface: the rim, which undulates gently in an organic gesture, showing off mixed birdseye, and a streak of smooth along the underside of the shank on the left side from boxwood fitment to the heel. The edge of that smooth area is defined by a sharp ridge to delineate the two textures. The saddle stem is thin and appears to be of surpassing comfort. This is a pipe that is well balanced and will dangle with ease from the teeth, when you're not gazing at it in wonder.
