American Estates: Jack Weinberger Smooth Freehand Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-009-18257

Made by Jack H. Weinberger of JHW pipes, this bent Dublin-esque Freehand displays the carver's unique interpretation of the Danish Fancy style of shaping. The shank here tapers out from a wide transition to meet a demurely curved saddle stem and pushes out from the heel as well, curving downward and making for a look that's quite striking, as if the shank were tying to drag the rest of the pipe forward. This pushes the bowl further up, lending it even greater prominence, and allowing it to proudly display its over two and a half inches in height and soft flare to the plateau crowned rim. Dressed in a warm mahogany stain and showcasing handsome grain, this pipe is certainly distinctive, and a piece of American pipe making history.
