American Estates: Elliott Nachwalter (Pipeworks) Smooth Bent Dublin (86) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-18559
Known for his collaboration with Jorg Jemelka in the Briar Workshop, Elliott Nachwalter is an American artisan who crafts particular hearty designs, though this bent Dublin is actually rather svelte. This piece features an outline reminiscent of the Saxophone, though with a slightly more shallow bend about the shank and stem, the pair's high-reaching stance lending it an excellent posture for jaw-hanging. In addition, the shank and stem have been paneled though to the base, adding a good bit of firmness to the composition that balances the sweeping curvature of the shape's outline. The bowl stands tall at the fore, flaring gently to a rim that dips at the fore and aft, revealing handsome grain beneath the stummel's auburn stain.
