American Estates: Bruce Weaver Smooth Acorn with Boxwood (2014) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-18534
The late Bruce Weaver was an extremely talented pipe maker who produced some rather striking designs. Most of the pipes we've seen from Weaver have been presented in his signature sandblast, but this Acorn is dressed in a handsome smooth finish that highlights an impressive display of grain about the stummel. Highlighted by a warm auburn stain, fine tendrils of flame grain flow across the flanks of the bowl, rising from the drooping heel to the broad, plateau-crowned rim. The pert, flaring bowl is poised at the fore of a gradually curling shank-and-stem arrangement that keeps the pipe's profile gestural and easy-going. The bowl's rounded contours conforms naturally to the hand, and the wide transition offers a comfortable space to drape a thumb.--Davin Hylton
