While Jared Coles' style most often reflects organically inclined, bent designs, this straight Dublin demonstrates his facility with more traditional shapes, though not without his own unique modifications. At under four and a half inches long, it presents a convenient size for its minimalist and classic style and fits well into Nosewarmer proportions. The bowl is upright with a touch of forward cant and a smooth, curved rim contrasting with the undulating waves of growth rings climbing the bowl. The shank is proportionately long and cylindrical, tapering from the wide transition to the base of the stem. The Bakelite bit of the saddle stem is smoky and translucent, while its base is comprised of a vibrant lapis blue vulcanite in a split configuration that showcases Coles' talent for pipe making quite well. For a shape-chart standard with additional personality, this is a fine choice, and it remains unsmoked.
