Cardinal House pipes are made by Walt Cannoy, a respected artisan whose experience in the craft goes back to the 1990s. Each of Cannoy's pipes are completely hand made and hand finished, and the Cardinal House line was specifically created to offer all of these features in a series that included artful shaping at a reasonable price. This Billiard is a handsome example of what the series has to offer, displaying a vibrant color palette and a rather striking silhouette. The stocky, upright bowl rises from its firm, rounded heel to its broad, plateau-crowned rim, while the trim shank-and-stem arrangement stretches out back. The short shank is extended by a single knuckle of chubby, warm bamboo, which gives way to a saddle stem of salmon-hued vulcanite. A deep, chestnut-hued smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights fine tendrils of flame grain across the flanks of the bowl. Unsmoked.
