This Tomato from Scott Klein is a stunning display of the American carver's craftsmanship, displaying a broad, plump bowl that stands at the fore of an upturned shank-and-stem arrangement. The bowl's rounded contours conform effortlessly to the palm, while the shank-and-stem arrangement's vertical posture encourages a comfortable smoking position. The bowl's wide flanks and supple curves make an excellent canvas for grain, which here takes the form of a fetching mixture of birdseye and flame grain, all presented underneath a smoky smooth finish. A horn accent along the shank end adds a touch of vibrancy to the overall form and ties the entire composition together quite nicely.
