American Estates: Rolando Negoita Sandblasted Chimney with Silver (2010) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-20859
Born in Transylvania, Rolando Negoita grew up in an artistic family and studied at the Romanian Academy of Fine Arts. During this time, Negoita became interested in pipe smoking, and due to the lack of quality pipes where he lived he decided to make his own. Then, Negoita moved to America and started a workshop where he made jewelry, knives, and pipes. Always fascinated by the union between the functional and the aesthetic, every Negoita pipe features flawless engineering and displays the talent of a sculptor. He passed away in 2021.
This Chimney by Rolando Negoita possesses a towering bowl, which is situated atop a rounded, protruding heel and set at a dramatic forward-cant. Furthermore, the bowl is dressed in a rugged, chestnut-stained sandblast, highlighting concentric growth rings that rise from the heel to the rim and licks of perpendicular flame grain. Out back, the rounded shank and tapered stem balance the composition, and a silver band at the junction provides a flash of elegance.
