American Estates: Bob Hayes Partially Rusticated Bent Apple Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-19722
A North Carolina carver who won the Triangle Area Pipe Smokers Professional Pipe Carver of the Year award for three consecutive years, Bob Hayes passed away in 2017, leaving behind a legacy that lives on through his pipes. This bent Apple showcases the late carver's creative shaping and finishing work. A sinuous interpretation of the classic shape, this piece features a plump, gently tapered bowl that stands at the fore of a sweeping shank-and-stem arrangement, one that encourages a comfortable smoking posture and lends a gestural poise to the overall form. Dressed in a chestnut-hued smooth finish, save for the rusticated rim, the stummel displays some fetching flame grain across the flanks of the bowl.
