American Estates: SwinkS Rusticated Pot (by Wilbur Swinks) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-009-21036

Wilbur Swinks was an American carver from Franklin, Ohio, who started the Swinks pipe company around 1955, working for decades until his death in 1987. His apprentice Chester Blair bought the brand in 1983 and continued making pipes under the Swinks name for a few years, though eventually sold the company and its manufacturing equipment, ceasing production. This Pot is a rather light piece, its build showcasing a sleek bit of taper through the shank, something that continues through the base of the saddle stem to nicely slenderize the aft side of this pipe. Up front, the bowl stands proudly atop a rounded heel, its walls rising in cylindrical fashion toward a flat rim, providing a muscular feel in hand and smartly insulating the capacious chamber. Dressed in a black rustication and paired with a black vulcanite stem, this pipe boasts a serious, dour demeanor that bespeaks a rugged appeal.
