American Estates: S&R (Steve and Roswetha Anderson) Smooth Freehand (38) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-20614
Steve and Roswetha Anderson began carving pipes in the 1960s under the S&R pipes name, and quickly made a name for themselves in the artisan pipe market. In 1977, they opened a tobacco shop called Pipes & Pleasures in Columbus, Ohio where they showcased their high-grade pipes. Sadly, Steve passed away in 2009, but Roswetha continues to carve pipes under the S&R name. This Freehand by S&R is reminiscent of the Fan shape, as the broad rim presents a dramatic 90-degree arc from the fore to the rear. Additionally, a hole has been deftly carved into the briar, giving the appearance of a separated bowl and shank while the rim's substantial bend unites them. Additionally, the stummel is dressed in an auburn smooth finish, highlighting a spectacular swath of birdseye on the rim and a stunning assortment of vertical grain and growth rings on the bowl.
