American Estates: Kadesh Swanson Sandblasted Acorn with Bamboo Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-20758
A year after smoking a pipe for the first time, Kadesh Swanson gathered the necessary tools for carving briar pipes and set up a small workshop in his parents' garage. Swanson said after getting his hands on a burl of briar, "the rest was history." Now set up in a professional workshop, Swanson carves organic, Danish-inspired shapes and commonly incorporates bamboo into his pieces. This Acorn by Kadesh Swanson is an elegant illustration of that style. The forward-urging bowl sits atop a sharp heel, which palpably contrasts with the supple walls just beneath the asymmetric rim. Out back, a petite briar shank rises sharply out of the transition and joins to a curvaceous stretch of blonde bamboo, creating a vivid contrast with the chestnut sandblast that dresses the stummel. A jet-black vulcanite stem tops things off, its high-kicking posture and trim button providing a superbly comfortable clench.
