Scott Klein's aesthetic often caters towards compact, affably muscular shapes, as exemplified by this Blowfish. Housed within this shape's hearty proportions is an example of superb shaping informed by a block of briar whose grain is nothing short of immaculate. Cross grain streaks across the bowl's broad, central panel, bisecting the bulbous flanks into speckled seas of some of the densest birdseye I've ever laid eyes on. The swirling pinpricks are interrupted only by a kiss of natural plateau along the right side. A testament to Scott's skill, the fins flicking out from the transition aren't merely ridgelines but are, instead, incredibly narrow panels that taper every-so-subtly as they curl up over the top of the bowl. It's all decorated, then, with an accent of rosewood, fashioned perfectly to align with the facets along the shank.
