American Estates: Barclay-Rex Smooth Dublin Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-009-21112

Founded in 1910 by Italian pipe maker Vincent Nastri, Barclay-Rex is a tobacconist based out of Manhattan that derives its name from an amalgamation of Barclay Street, the shop's original location, and Nastri's dog, Rex. Still operational and the last family-owned tobacconist in New York, Barclay-Rex offers a number of fine pipes, with this Dublin being one such example. As is typical for the form, this piece features a tall bowl that flares from its firm heel to its broad rim. As it flares, the bowl takes on a pronounced cant that lends the entire composition a dynamic, forward-urging energy. Out back, a sleek, arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement lends balance to the form and keeps the aft of the composition streamlined and understated in profile. An auburn smooth finish completes the ensemble and highlights healthy grain throughout the stummel.
