American Estates: David Huber Smooth Horn (6518) (2018) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-009-21185

David Huber enjoys playing with a shifting sense of geometry, as many of his pieces seem to belie their true disposition when viewed in profile. As for this Horn shape, it appears to be perfectly conical at first glance, especially in photos. It's actually something a bit more oval-like, which lends it an ergonomic in-hand presence. Additionally, this piece boasts stacked cross grain on each flank, with a tight valley of birdseye along the underside, all highlighted by a warm walnut stain. As for the stem, it's a gently downturned saddle, making use of just enough negative space to lend some visual balance to the eager composition.
