American Estates: Michael Frey Rusticated Bent Apple (1287) (1987) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-009-21298

Before retiring, Michael Frey learned pipe making from Michael Butera starting in the 1980s. Frey's pipes often exhibit the popular style of that era — bold, bowl-centric proportions that call to mind the aesthetic of many Italian makers. This bent Apple from 1987, while muscular and substantial at the bowl, keeps its lines soft and supple, supported by the elegant stretch of shank and stem out back. The transition is well-defined and accentuates the bowl's voluptuous appeal, while the dark walnut rustication brings creates a wealth of tactile intrigue around the stummel.
