American Estates: Elliott Nachwalter/Jorg Jemelka (The Briar Workshop) Smooth Bent Dublin (1) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-21357
Known for his collaboration with Jorg Jemelka in the Briar Workshop, Elliott Nachwalter is an American artisan who crafts particular hearty designs, such as this hearty bent Dublin. Strikingly sinuous in silhouette, this pipe boasts an impressively curved shank-and-stem combination that curls out of a tightly-knit transition, poising this pipe for comfortable smoking and jaw-hanging. The appreciable verticality of this piece compresses the overall length down to less than five inches, though there's a defined thickness present throughout the composition that keeps things substantial. The shank embodies this thickness well, but the aft side of the pipe remains fairly slim thanks to the stem's sleek upward taper of black vulcanite. Up front, the bowl stands on a rounded heel and dramatically flares out to a domed rim, one surrounding a capacious chamber with thick, comfortably rounded walls. Dressed in a warm, vibrant stain, the stummel showcases plenty of handsome grain all around, contrasted by a kiss of plateau at the aft side of the rim.
