American Estates: S. Johnson Smooth Dublin (87) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-21566
Steve Johnson worked for much of his career at the E. Wilke pipe shop in Philadelphia. The store was located in a department store, and Johnson set up shop in a small room right in the center, crafting three pipes a day, six days a week. This Dublin is a handsome piece, presenting a rather timeless silhouette that's lent a bit of modern styling thanks to its striking shank and stem combination. Said shank and stem push out from a wide transition, the shank compressed at the top and underside to create a rectangular shaping alongside a quartet of crisp panels. A rounded heel supports the bowl as it grows walls that flare reservedly to a flat rim, providing plenty of space to show off the stummel's warm stain.
