American Estates: Kaywoodie Carved Jester (post-1950) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-21596
In addition to Kaywoodie's more traditionally-inclined offerings, the marque has also been known to fashion a number of figural pieces. Said figurals have seen many renditions throughout Kaywoodie's portfolio, with each possessing a distinctive character such as this post-1950 example here. Carved into a hearty bowl, this piece depicts the likeness of a jester, his playful smirk framed by a pointed goatee and mustache, and his head enveloped in a hood with a pair of feathers pinned to the left side. Out back, the bowl pairs to a muscular, upturned shank and smartly bent tapered stem, the arrangement joined via a threaded tenon and mortise. A warm, auburn stain dresses the stummel, accentuating the intricate detail rendered in this piece.
