American Estates: Abe Herbaugh Sandblasted Acorn with Horn (2019) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-21699
American carver Abe Herbaugh tends to craft organic, Danish-inspired shapes, demonstrating an eye for precise lines, supple curves, and handsome accenting materials. This Acorn is a brilliant example of Herbaugh' style, showcasing the artisan's ability to render classic, Anglo-French shapes in new and interesting ways. This piece boasts a tall, full-bodied bowl that flares from its conservative, rearward-orientated heel to its broad, softly rounded rim. Said bowl is paired to an upturned shank that tapers into a bulbous ferrule of horn, which then joins a smartly curved saddle stem. The horn's creamy hues provide some vibrant color to the pipe's otherwise muted palette, without contrasting too much with the rest of the composition's complexion. A crisp, ruby-hued sandblast dresses the ensemble and highlights gorgeous growth rings across the bowl's flanks.
