Trever Talbert crafts his Ligne Bretagne series from old French stummels that were turned sometime following World War 2. The series' shapes are what you would expect from French pipes of that era, elevated by modern stems and hand-finished by Talbert himself. This Acorn is a handsome example of what the series has to offer, showcasing a happy marriage between old-school shaping and contemporary aesthetics. A sleek, lightweight design, this piece features a broad, squat bowl that stands at the fore of an incredibly slender shank-and-stem arrangement. Said bowl flares from its heel to its broad, rounded rim, with its walls taking on a supple curvature that conforms naturally to the hand. The trim shank-and-stem arrangement supports the bowl and keeps the composition looking balanced and streamlined in profile. Dressing this piece is a rich auburn finish that highlights healthy grain throughout the stummel.
