American Estates: E. Wilke Smooth Billiard Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-21760
Edwin Wilke founded his namesake tobacconist in 1872, which was located for decades in downtown Manhattan. Alongside selling their signature tobacco blends, Wilke Tobacco sold pipes under the name E. Wilke, priding themselves on only making pipes from high-quality briar and dressing them in virgin finishes. This Billiard is a hearty pipe from the brand, presenting with more than six inches in length and a robust feel in hand. Much of this added heft is thanks to its muscular bowl and the over two-inch tall walls that rise from its curvaceous heel, the thick walls admirably insulating a capacious chamber. A wide transition pairs the bowl to a subtly tapering shank that reaches out to meet a more swiftly tapering stem of black vulcanite. Dressed in a warm, mahogany-hued stain, the stummel showcases handsome grain throughout, with some impressive birdseye displayed across the right flank.
