Premal Chheda makes pipes in Columbus, Ohio, and has had a hand in training many other carvers at the beginning stages of their own careers. This bent Egg by Chheda is a dynamic composition with a forward-canting bowl and a softly curved shank-and-stem arrangement. Said bowl stands atop a lifted heel and grows supple insulating walls that reach terminate at a slightly concave rim. A wide transition marries the bowl to a trim shank that lifts gently upward before marrying a smartly bent saddle stem. A crisp, ruddy sandblast completes the ensemble and highlights handsome birdseye across the bowl's flanks.
