American Estates: Kaywoodie Carburetor Smooth Dublin (13) (pre-1950) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-21854
Originally a line of pipes offered by Kaufman Bros. & Bondy (KB&B,) Kaywoodie first appeared in 1919 and rather swiftly became a massive success, with the larger company going on to open offices in New York, New Jersey, and London: shipping pipes around the world. Eventually, Kaywoodie became a subsidiary brand of KB&B, and that company was acquired by S.M. Frank, Kaywoodie having been consistently produced for nearly a century throughout. A Kaywoodie Carburetor of considerable vintage, this firm Dublin displays all of the likable traits of those briars from yesteryear, with a bit of a novel addition in the form of a metal fitting at the base of the bowl, serving as a carburetor. Originally introduced back in 1936, the Kaywoodie Carburetor was intended to provide a cooler smoke, allowing air to be drawn in through the hole at the bowl's base.
