American Estates: Tom Spanu Smooth Bent Brandy (F2) (2004) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-009-22074

Beginning his career in the pipe industry in 1963, Tommaso Spanu traveled to northern Italy where he worked as an apprentice for his uncle. Working alongside other pipe manufacturers in Gavirate, Spanu was eventually discovered by Alberto Paronelli, the grand seigneur of the Italian pipe business. With the help of Paronelli and other craftsmen, Spanu eventually gained enough skill to go on to work at Clairmont where he would later craft the bulk of pipes for the business. This bent Brandy from Tom Spanu is a classic interpretation of the shape-chart standard. The supple and tapered bowl is married to a gracefully bent shank-and-stem out back. The pigment of the dark acrylic mouthpiece juxtapose the light honey-hues of the stummel, which is finished smooth to reveal patches of flame grain across the bowl and birdseye on the rim and shank.
