American Estates: J. Alan Smooth Tomato with Boxwood (1068) (2015) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-009-22176

Jeff Gracik of J. Alan Pipes has earned a worldwide reputation for his pipes, having learned from American greats Todd Johnson and Jody Davis before developing his own distinct style. Gracik's work combines the curvaceous, gestural shaping of Danish designs with the compact muscularity seen in American pipe making, with this Tomato being a distinctive iteration of his style. This piece showcases a stout bowl that gracefully flares from its lifted heel to a wide, rounded rim. The bowl marries an elegantly curved shank, which flares out to a gently arching saddle stem, designed for a comfortable smoking posture. The smooth, flowing lines of the shank and stem complement the bowl's soft curves, giving the shape a sense of graceful flowing momentum. A smooth contrast-stained finish dresses the stummel, highlighting bold flame grain that sweeps across the sides of the bowl. At the junction, a warm boxwood accent adds a vibrant touch of color, tying the entire piece together with subtle elegance.
