American Estates: Ligne Bretagne Smooth Acorn (3) (2014) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Ligne Bretagne pipes are the brainchild of Trevor Talbert, featuring vintage stummels found by him and his wife after purchasing a workshop in the region of Brittany in France. Each pipe is fully hand-finished and uses new production stems made by Talbert, with this Acorn being a lovely example. A deeply curved take on the classic shape, this piece displays an angular heel that centers the visual weight at the fore. This slight spur is oriented directly beneath the bowl and it nicely supports the walls as they make an arcing taper toward the chamfered rim, creating a comfortable feel in hand. Out back, a wide transition pairs the bowl to a slim, lifting shank that reaches out to a sleekly tapering stem of pale horn, the combination poising this pipe for comfortable jaw-hanging whenever is convenient. At less than four and a half inches long, this pipe is also quite the convenient Nosewarmer, and its light weight makes it eminently portable. Dressed in a warm, rich stain and smooth finish, this pipe showcases handsome grain throughout with speckles of birdseye across both flanks of the bowl.
