American Estates: Walt Cannoy West Canyon Partially Rusticated Billiard Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-009-22318

Walt Cannoy is an American artisan most recognized for his Cardinal House line of affordable artisan pipes, though Cannoy carves pieces under his own name as well, with this particular Billiard being an earlier piece from the carver. An impressively stout pipe, this piece is fairly short, yet is full with substance for an imposing presence in hand and a sturdy smoking experience. The transition is wide, and the shank and stem are fairly slim, with the shank itself being a remarkably short stretch of round briar met by a thick, tapering, cumberland stem. Up front, the bowl stands on a rounded heel and grows thick, cylindrical walls that reach up to a chamfered rim, aptly insulating the capacious chamber for leisurely smoking sessions. Dressed in a craggy rustication, there is plenty of texture to appreciate here, all beneath a deep, inky stain that makes the smooth rim and shank end stand out.
