American Estates: Edward's Smooth Acorn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-22315
Originally a French marque, Edward's pipes have been an American staple since the late 60s or early 70s when they moved to the U.S., offering quality briar pipes at fair prices. This Acorn is a fluid, deeply curved pipe that is impressive in its dynamism, something matched by a remarkable lightness that makes the piece easy to clench and easy to travel with. The transition is wide, and the shank is slim, lifting to meet an extremely slender stem of black vulcanite, which extends the pipe to nearly six inches long. Up front, the bowl stands on a pronounced heel spur, the sharp point's silhouette emphasizing the fore as the walls make an arcing taper and slight forward cant to the rim. Dressed in a warm, ruddy stain, the stummel reveals an angled pattern of birdseye on the left flank and flickering streaks of flame grain on the right.
