American Estates: Kaywoodie Relief Grain Zulu (72) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-22325
Originally a line of pipes offered by Kaufman Bros. & Bondy (KB&B,) Kaywoodie first appeared in 1919 and rather swiftly became a massive success, with the larger company going on to open offices in New York, New Jersey, and London: shipping pipes around the world. Eventually, Kaywoodie became a subsidiary brand of KB&B, and that company was acquired by S.M. Frank, Kaywoodie having been consistently produced for nearly a century throughout. A smart and tidy rendition of the classic shape, this Zulu from Kaywoodie is a sleek and slender take on the timeless profile, complete with a wide transition that gives way to a consistently tapering shank and stem combination that are joined at a slim band of metal. Up front, the bowl stands on a rounded heel and grows subtly flaring walls that rise to a flat rim, canting forward as they showcase plenty of texture thanks to their craggy rustication.
