American Estates: Elliott Nachwalter/Jorg Jemelka (The Briar Workshop) Spot Carved Bent Brandy Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-22591
Coming to us from the collaboration of Jorg Jemelka and Elliott Nachwalter, this bent Brandy is part of the duo's Briar Workshop brand and embodies a look that's very subtly unique among many carvers. The shank and stem here trail out of a wide transition and lift actively, taking on a continuous taper through to the button, with the stem itself making a smart downturn at the bit for a comfortable smoking posture. Up front, the bowl stands on a rounded, subtly lifting heel that pushes its rounded walls into prominence as they make an arcing taper to the rim. From the smoker's perspective, the shape of the bowl changes dramatically, as it reveals the softly rounded panels that surround its shape, creating a subtly geometrical outline that draws one's attention to the bowl without fail. Dressed in a craggy spot carving, the underside of the stummel is rich with texture, while the rest of the briar is covered in a warm, rich stain.
