American Estates: Edward's Smooth Panel (41) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-22806
Referred to as the "American Charatan" for their high-quality, yet affordable pipes, Edward's originated in Saint-Claude, France. Eventually, they made their way to America, bringing their whimsical craftsmanship and appreciation for Algerian briar along with them. This Panel from Edward's is quite an interesting shape, replacing the typical faceted bowl with a crisply paneled shank instead. In profile, the shape is reminiscent of a Lumberman, with a tall, cylindrical bowl at the fore of an elongated shank and sleek saddle stem. The heel of the bowl features two crisp facets along the left and right flanks, creating a snug place to set your fingers. Dressed in a honey-blonde stain, the stummel features swirls of birdseye along each flank of the bowl and sweeping cross-grain throughout the fore.
