American Estates: Barclay-Rex Smooth Billiard Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-009-22847
Founded in 1910, Barclay-Rex is a Manhattan-based tobacconist, established by Vincent Nastri, an Italian pipe maker. The company name comes from a portmanteau of the store's original location, Barclay St. and Nastri's dog, a Great Dane named Rex. A family-run institution for three generations that's still operational, the Barclay-Rex tobacconist has made a name for itself thanks to its lines of fine pipes, pipes that include this Billiard. A sleek and rather lengthy piece, this Billiard features a continuous taper from out of the wide transition, slenderizing the shank and stem greatly. This diminishment places the majority of the visual weight here onto the bowl, with said bowl standing atop a rounded heel and growing softly tapering walls that cant forward gently. Dressed in a warm, mahogany-stained smooth finish, the stummel here showcases a wealth of handsome grain and a timeless look.
