While traditional Calabashes were and are fashioned from gourd, with a chamber cap of meerschaum, this example from AKB was carved entirely from the porous mineral. That said, the color palette reflects the classic gourd style — the stummel stained an auburn hue, with the rim speckled in the same stain but with the pale meerschaum color still peeking through. This piece further benefits from a dense rustication and intricate sterling silver accent.
