If you're interested in imbuing your meerschaum pipe with a clean, even patina, then it is essential to outfit your pipe of choice with a coloring bowl. These are secondary bowls with a secondary tobacco chamber which fits snugly inside the chamber of your meerschaum pipe, thanks to the cork on its bottom. Once it is seated, smoke from your pipe as normal, and after consistent, diligent use of this tool, you should notice your meerschaum darkening and coloring more evenly. This is all thanks to the cooling and distributing effect which this attachment has on smoke, essentially utilizing your main tobacco chamber in the style of a reverse Calabash's secondary one, ensuring that the oils that patinate your pipe coat it evenly, giving you a uniform patination.
