AKB Meerschaum: Lattice Bent Dublin (with Case) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-574-5748
AKB Meerschaum are no strangers to lattice carvings on their pipes, and we have seen quite a lot from the Turkish workshop, though never any quite like this bent Dublin. There's a strong air of Neoclassical shaping present here, with a willowy shank and stem combination that is possessed of a consistent taper from the transition to the button, its sleekness and length balancing out some of the visual weight of the bowl. Said bowl is rather stout, with a trumpeting flare to the asymmetrical rim that, I suspect, is the exterior of the solid block meerschaum used to carve this pipe, acting like plateau but from a different medium. Across the stummel is an intricate lattice pattern that features reverse teardrop carvings recessed deep into the porous mineral, all surrounded by circles of different sizes, the paleness of the stummel contrasted handsomely by the rich cobalt blue stem.
