This figural piece from Cevher of AKB Meerschaum is an ode to the artists in the kitchen: chefs. Wearing a toque blanche, French for "white hat," and boasting a curling mustache, the chef depicted here seems eager to whip up a delicious meal. Like all of AKB's work, this piece is richly detailed and full of life, from the chef's plump cheeks to every fine strand of hair beneath his hat. Out back, the upturned shank gives way to a flowing saddle stem of ruby-hued acrylic, both working in concert to promote a comfortable smoking posture. With time and use, the crisp white stummel will patinate, taking on tans, browns, and golds for plenty of bespoke character.
