A palm-filling figural from AKB, this piece depicts a common visage in meerschaum pipe making — a skull. This particular rendition is especially grim, as the skull lacks its lower mandible and displays only the upper jaw and the accompanying teeth found there. Like most of AKB's designs, the attention to detail here is stunning, with the sunken eyes sockets and recessed nose rendered with aplomb. It's a bold, eye-catching design, and it will only become more so as the stummel accrues patina with age and use.
