AKB Meerschaum: Carved Laughing Bacchus (with Case) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-574-6112
Bacchus, the Roman name for the Greek god Dionysus, is the god of many happy things, such as wine, fertility, theater, insanity, and ritual madness, a sublime combination that has resulted in a widespread worship of the deity across a multitude of cultures. Indeed, this also places him squarely on the front of this figural meerschaum from AKB, depicting him laughing, eyes low, as if in a perpetual state of excessive wine adoration. His beard billows out from his face with a decided volume, his head crowned with a wreath of leaves, a branch in the front holding it together as a pair of grape clusters frame the back. This detailed work is truly a celebration of spirit and spirits, the pearl-white finish to patinate wonderfully while enjoyed, obviously meant to pair with a fine wine.
